The Atlantic

Left Tomar this morning and headed ou to the coast – kept off the main roads and took a slow drive through the countryside. Still managed to get “zapped” by a toll camera for which we still don’t have a tag – oops!

Stopped off at San Martinho do Porto to make some lunch. Took the obligatory photos next to the Atlantic – and got wet feet as a wave came in whilst waiting for Iain to take the photo : ). From there drove down to a little village called Foz do Arelho where we are now camped for the next couple of nights. Another Orbitur campsite so no toilet seats (drives me mad).

Walked into the village for a look around and bought some supplies (yes in Portuguese again), checked out the cafe which was full of locals sat outside in big coats, hats and scarves – us looking very touristy in T-shirts:) we stick out like a sore thumb especially when I try and speak the lingo with what sounds like a cross between an Indian / Welsh accent.

And now its raining – so tucked up in the camper checking out the maps on where to head next. Planning out a route so we are in Malaga for early February to welcome Ros, Ped, Jen and Mez to the sunshine for a few days.

So that’s one week done and lots of miles covered – 626 miles since Santander so that’s approx 930 miles since we left Rhyl.

  2. Hi Jimmy & Yvonne

We have booked onto a site near Praia Du Luz for 10 days over Christmas. We stayed there last year and loved it. I get Christmas Day off from cooking as Iain is treating us to the buffet dinner at the restaurant on the site.

So no Turkey for us this year – we have bought a few Xmas essentials such as Quality Street Purple sweets, peanuts and English beers with us though. We also have our Christmas Robin hung in the front of the van and a little stocking our grandson made – so fairly Christmassy already πŸ™‚ xx
